I m not able to connect internet via wired network

hi team,

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala - released in October 2009 and supported until April 2011.
here issue is not able to connect Internet via wired network fist time when I start Ubuntu .
I have to restart the system and first login into the windows afterward again I restart the system then only I able to connect Internet in Ubuntu.

kindly help me out to resolve this issue.

There are several ways to solve this.First right click on network manager and enable networking.Then underr wired I think you can choose between dhcp and manual way.Try manual way if you didn before.Also you can try to make new connction under dsl.Other option is to type in applications<accessories>terminal

sudo pppoeconf

If any of this doesnt work install wicd from system>administration>synaptic and try to connect with it.

hi still ,getting the same error,
its dual boot -windows vista ultimate and Ubuntu.
I will explain once again my problem - I am having two OS in my Laptop.
when we start very first time my system and elect Ubuntu -not able to connect internet by using Wired network.
then again I will restart my system and login to Window OS,now i will restart the system and login to ubuntu then only I am able to connect internet in Ubuntu.

do I need to do some setting in Ubuntu?
please suggest me here;
kindly resolve this.

Once you connected from Ubuntu type in terminal

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

and see if that helps.
