Hello Lawrence,

there could be a mistake in the readme file so the correct command should be:
sh z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh
Thats the file name from the extracted archive.

This is how I installed driver for lexmark z11. I got the installation procedure from the net but unfortunately
I cannot remember the link to give credit where it is due! This is how it went:
System - Administration - Printing.
A window opened - Add New Printer. Clicked on it. Another little window opened: Gnome-Cups-ad:
reading printer database.
After a while another window opened with questions about printer and the port. Since my printer was not
detected but the port was listed LPT1#, so I clicked on Forward. Another window opened with option for
manufacturers. From the drop down window I selected lexmark which took me to another window.
I clicked on Install driver and pointed to where the driver was. I had it on a floopy. It is a ppd (whatever it is) file after extraction. The driver was installed and the printer was recognised.
I had downloaded the driver from the net. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, however, it sems that there is some other problem.

When I followed your advice Mathias, I received the following on Terminal:

"Verifying archive integrity...tail: Warning: "+number" syntax is deprecated, please use "-n +number"
OK
Uncompressing Lexmark Printer Drivertrap: 125: cd /tmp; /bin/rm -rf $tmpdir; exit $res: bad trap"

A text file was produced with instructions to save as "Lexmark-1100-lm1100.ppd".

I tried to install the resulting file as the ppd driver, but I could not get a response from my printer.

Hello Lawrence,

try this i a terminal, the result should be a install.tar.gz
export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209
tail -n +143 z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh > install.tar.gz
