I would suggest using openDNS http://www.opendns.com/. It's free and very easy to use. Once you registered for an account, you can select the categories, for instance social networking, or specify the domain you want to block.

the problem i found is that they come from so many different places that they are hard to block . by the time you get a bunch of them blocked you also block some of your internet access and search ability .
