totem crashes when trying to play dvds

Asked by Max Snyder

I am new to Ubuntu. I'm testing it to see if I want to switch my desktop running vista >:( to this. I've been trying to play dvd's for a while now but still cant figure it out. I have installed all the stuff I need to play encrypted dvd's.
libdvdnav4, libdvdread4, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, and libdvdcss2.
I right click on the disc on the desktop and click play with movie player, it opens up then boom it closes. Even if I go to applications and open up movie player then go to play dvd it still closes. Please HELP!!!!!

try from the command line: open up a terminal and type:
totem dvd://

Tell us if it gives you any error messages.

(also make sure the DVD plays properly on another computer, just for good measure)
