inspiron netbook screen resolution

Asked by Michael

I do not have any options for the screen resolution in the display settings, 800 by 600 is the current setting, no other selection is available. Being a netbook (small screen) this resolution is awkward.

My linux knowledge is novice at best. Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Inspiron mini 10 with a clean install.

cheers
Michael

Your Dell Mini 10 has a GMA 500 video chipset. Instructions to fix the resolution can be found here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsbo#karmic

Hope that fixes the glitch.
