Mac HD to Ubuntu

i have a 250gb hd that i had in my powerbook g4 mac which broke. the hd works fine but i need to install ubuntu on it,i have ubuntu 9.10 usb starter that i will be using becase i cant burn cds/dvds on my netbook. how do i go about doing that im fairly new to ubuntu so i'll need a step by step

Use a USB stick to boot from, make the stick on another system then boot to it, REMEMBER to MD5 test the ISO you use.
