i want use luckybackup to backup my system...

Asked by kumar

Hi, I am using ubuntu 9.10. I want to use luckybackup to backup my system... what are the folders that i should add to backup list.. in root directory i have following files and folders-
bin dev initrd.img media proc selinux tmp vmlinuz
boot etc lib mnt root srv usr
cdrom home lost+found opt sbin sys var

what are the other options to backup in ubuntu 9.10.. is there anything like windows restore by which i can restore my system to a previous point of time..
one more thing, my system is a dual boot of windows 7 and ubuntu 9.10.. does this luckybackup or any others options take care of this dual boot property.. thanks...

/etc is good to backup as it backs up a lot of configs for stuff.

The scope will entirely depend on your usage, for example if the system is a web server you will need to backup /var/www if it isnt then this can be ignored there is no single blanket answer.

there is no need to backup cdrom as it is only a mountpoint for optical media.

there is no "windows restore" like in windows for ubuntu but i have seen people making noises about it so it may get implemented soon (personally I turn that off in windows but have seen others use it successfully)
