desk top themes and sound packs

Asked by Rocco

Well now that I have Ubuntu 9.10 run very well, I decided I wanted to change the desktop theme and the standard sound pack. The desk top is kinda boring and the drum sound can drive you nuts if you are clicking to much. I have downloaded some themes from the recommended places and including some sound packs. I just can not seem to get any of them to look like the screen shot as well as getting them to install.

I can not figure out what I am doing wrong and wonder if anyone can help shed some light on this matter.

Many of you have created some real nice works of art for desk top themes I am just sorry I can't make them work..

Thank you in advance for your help. God Bless.

Rocco.

Usually it's explained on the page you've download the package.
e.g.
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/comics+sounds?content=118512&PHPSESSID=ec172e7a347061eda10a23118722cb2d

>>just extract the folder in /usr/share/sounds/ and select "comics sounds" in sound properties>>sounds effects

Install theme:
http://library.gnome.org/users/user-guide/stable/prefs-appearance.html.en#goscustdesk-62

The other option is, just to drag .tar file into the theme window.
