reinstalling Ubuntu deletes my gpg keys and fingerprint?

Asked by rafaguilarsol

I have to reinstall Ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop and I already set my gpg keys and fingerprint in it. I also signed my Code of Conduct with that information.
My question is: Do I have to do all the process of gpg and signing the Code of Conduct again if I reinstall Ubuntu 9.10 on the same Desktop?

Thank you in advance for your help

Well, a backup of important files is recommended anyway in case something goes wrong.
Keys are stored in ~/.gpg, so backup it somewhere and import it again later. Simple choice would be .tar.

Of course if you install plane new on the same partitions it will overwrite existing data.
Ubuntu is magic, but it has it's limits ;-)
If you have a separate /home partiton you can keep it with option manual partitioning, so it wont overwrite it.
