Black screen installing Ubuntu 9.10 64 on t410 ThinkPad
I have a t410 ThinkPad with integrated Intel graphics and an i7 processor. It came with Windows 7 pre-loaded. After shrinking the Windows 7 partition, I burned the latest 9.10 Ubuntu 64 disk from ubuntu.com and tried to install. Using either "Install" or "Try without installing," the disk spins for a while (5-15 minutes) but I do not get past a black screen. Are there known issues with these machines?
- Memory test OK
- Disk OK
Update 1: Same problem with XUbuntu 9.10 64. I haven't yet tried the alternate install disk, but I'm hesitant to do so if I can't get any display using a live CD.
Update 2: Booting with "Safe" display options appears to be a work around. I managed to install this way, however when I boot into the install the monitor is marked as "Unknown" and I'm unable to use the highest possible resolution or change the refresh rate.
