I have recently installed Linux/Ubuntu. I have a HP Officejet All-in-one 5610 and I need the drivers and software for it but they are for Windows or Mac. What do I do?

Asked by Don Johnson

My son installed Linux/Ubuntu on my PC. I have a HP Officejet All-In-One 5610. I went thru the "Printing" prompt from the pulldown menu and followed all the steps. I still can't print anything so I need to know where to get the drivers and software that will work on Linux/Ubuntu.

Ive been strugling with this as well, Drivers as I understand them in windows system totally difer in the linux relm of things. I have an HP 1210v multifunction printer and was able to get it to print from Ubuntu with help from the above link. However this was when it is directly connected to the laptop. I use this printer through a netgear USB print server so all of the PC in the house can print to it... I havent had much success getting it to print on the network (yet). You may find the above link helpful to your delemia though.

Good luck, Please post your results so we all can learn :)

You may find the following links of use:
http://linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-OfficeJet_5610
for a Driver reported to work with this printer, as well as this page:
http://www.linux.com/articles/114181
Literally titled "HP all-in-one device works great with Linux" which discusses using the scanning and fax functions in addition to the printing.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Don Johnson for more information if necessary.
