I give up. I have tried to find out where Ubu 10 puts the device file for my built-in mic. No luck. I will have to use Windows.

Asked by M Mag

I want to use Xvidcap to make a video, however it needs to know where the device file for the built-in mic is. No luck. I am going to use Win7 for this. Failure for Ubu.

I think it's system dependant, therefore you have to investigate data for your sound card, not the microphone. Alsamixer has its own devices so you might want to install and use that. I've found it's a required install for any manipulation of sound input (mike or line) especially since the default sound controlling software gets a bit confused about inputs.
