Lost menu/tool bars

Asked by Purgatori on 2009-12-17

I have just start using Xubuntu and I don't know a lot about computers. I started my computer up this morning and the top and bottom menus/toolbars are missing from my desktop. After several hours of trying to find anything resembling how to restore them I am now even more confused and realize I know less than I thought:) I'm very embarrassed to ask but can some one help me and tell me how I can restore them in simple steps?

Cheers

Press alt+F2, after a smallbox appear, type gnome-panel ...

Try it ..

Thx

If that doesn't work run:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

In an ALT+F2 dialogue

Thanks but neither worked Anymore ideas???

Press ctrl+alt+f2 then login with your user and password then type:

sudo apt-get --reinstall install xubuntu-desktop

sudo reboot

Hope this helps, bye
