xubuntu googleearth not showing photos

If you make a new Ubuntu user, is it the same?

Google Earth has multiple problems with multiple different versions of Ubuntu.

I suggest you to download and install the 6th version. Works much , much better.

First remove completely the version of Google Earth you have , and then go here

http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/google_earth/stable/main/base/google-earth-stable

download the appropriate architecture (32bit or 64bit) and install.

That fixed the problem. The old version had been working fine until a few days ago.
