11.10 xubuntu screen problems

Asked by Peter

I have just upgraded to 11.10 Xubuntu and in my login I have screen problems.
The bar showing - + X etc at the top of an application does not show. In clicking on a menu heading for example file in Firefox, the drop down menu vanishes as soon as the mouse pointer is moved down.
Settings---> settings manager--->window manager does not show the usual stuff, only the heading and at the bottom overview help close.
Also the bottom of an application page id not at the bottom of the screen.

Everything works perfectly in my wife's login.

The unity desktop works as it is supposed to in my login with drop down menus etc .

I tried copying my wifes xfce config folder to my area but it did not solve the xubuntu problem

I created a 2nd admin accnt, renamed my old home folder, deleted the old admin user, created a new admin with the same name, copied the required contents of the renamed folder to my admin folder without any of the config files and hence problem solved.
