i would like to know how to control the panels like in ubuntu and also have a menu editor if possible

Right click the panel and you can click 'Add item' to add what you wish. You can losk items if they are setup right. If items are unlocked it will allow you to drag them around the bar to where you wish.

If you right click on the applications / system menu and click 'Edit Menu' It may let you edit the menu. Or you can press ALT+F2 and run:

alacarte

to edit the menu there (perhaps)

 to add stuff is ok . to move stuff around i your ideal works with ubuntu not xubuntu and alt+ f2 then run alacarte gets, command not found .

i have found several listings on the web search of how to but they don`t work . that is for menu editing .
