12.10 Runs Slow

Asked by clombard

Compared to 12.04 the lastest version of Ubuntu has to have the record for Slowness.
Opening, running and closing programs is very slow.
However the Slowest feature is on/off time.
It takes forever to boot up and shut down.
Is there a way to make this clunky version run more like the previous one...?
Or how can I go back to 12.04...?
thank you.

What computer specs are you running on? Cpu , ram , gpu , hdd space would be helpful to analyse your problem.

I suggest you run:

sudo apt- get install xfce4

Log off and log in to the xfce session. May help make the desktop faster

ok...Solved.
The second part of my question was:
Is it possible to completely remove 12.10
and go back to 12.04 saving my setups and files...?
thanks

You will need to reinstall. You can restore the configs etc from your backups

Can you help with this problem?
