resolution can't be adjusted below 800X600

Asked by Thomas Cheek

I have a S3 Trio 64V+ 86C765 video card in a computer. After installing Ubuntu 10.1 in the machine I can not adjust the resolution to my normal 1024X768 because it is not offered as an option. The largest option is the 800X600 resolution which makes my icons look like they are intended for the visually impaired. I have tried downloading the patch xf86-video-s3-0.6.3 extracted it, restarted my computer and I still get the same resolution. What can I do to get smaller icons?

Hello, I was facing the same problem, I found out that because I was using 32bit UBUNTU it was coming so. When I switched to 64bit version it was solved. Try doing it.

Can you help with this problem?
