Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed but no Unity 3D only 2D...

Asked by ubundell

I have a Compaq Presario SR2030NX desktop PC - AMD Athlon 64 - Nvidia Ge Force 6150 LE/Integrated SSE2 .

When I try to boot Unity 3D the desktop comes up but there is a bar at the bottom that appears for a while (nothing on it) the screen flashes a few or more times, then the bar dissappears but only the background picture is available. no buttons or icons or nothing--although I can right-click & change desktop appearance, etc. but I cannot close that window once it is up. no launcher, no shutdown or restart buttons or applets, or anything else.

I have to push the power on my pc or try to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to get it to restart.

I then just log in & boot from unity 2D.

I would really love to have Unity3D if I am able to so any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

Your Nvidia 6150 really doesn't acceptably do Unity 3D, so stick with the 2D. I have a 6150, and did see it try to run 3D when I got it confused by booting off a usb which I had moved between systems (one of which could do 3D), and the slow speed of things like window drag was a joke.

Can you help with this problem?
