TV Screen worked with 9.10 but not 11.10?

Asked by Malcolm Candlish

I have installed ubuntu 32 bit 11.10 in place of 9.10. I have installed the new software using a CRT screen because it would not install via my Technica TV screen. Now having installed 11.10 and updated all the software, I cannot use my TV LCD screen with this newer software.

Surely as I used ubuntu 9.10 for a year on two via my TV screen, why is it I can no longer use this screen with 11.10.

Any ideas would be gratefullt received.

With thanks,

Malcolm Candlish.

Thank you for your comments Andrew Woodhead. The graphics are intergrated into the mother board- NVIDIA GeForce 7025- DX9.0 VGA Pixel Shader 3.0- Max shared memory 256MB.

Do you believe my graphics card (such as it is) is the problem? Do you think that I should change it and to what would you recommend?

Thank you also sourav (gyro-sm). The problem is not so much as sleeping but not engaging in the first place, the screen remains blank! Having said that I must try it.

Thank you for your suggestion.

With best wishes,
Malcolm.

Thank you all for your help and assistance.

I purchased and installed a new graphics card a Geforce 8400 and downloaded the latest ubuntu 12.4. This with the help of an old CRT screen did the trick. It now all works brilliantly.

Thank you again for your kind help.

Malcolm
