Vga & hdmi ports don't work; Acer aspire 6930G & Geforce 9300m gs

Asked by Quinnas

Hello,

i installed Ubuntu 11.10 with a Live-CD and all updates till this day. I have the problem, that i can't use the ports for VGA and HDMI. If i plug in a Monitor or Beamer in either HDMI or VGA port nothing happens. When i press the shortcut [Fn+F5] (to switch between Monitors) nothing happens too. Even if a Monitor or something aquivalent is pluged in, only my Notebookdisplay is listed in the menupoint "Display" in the system settings. It's named "Unknown".

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/Old/AcerAspire6930G
In this list, the VGA-port works at least under ubuntu 10.04.

Notebook: ACER ASPIRE 6930G

graphics adapter: NVIDIA GEFORCE 9300M GS (i installed the driver unter "additional drivers" markt as (version current)[recommended]. But i also tried the other and without.)

Ubuntu -ver: 11.10

hope you can help me

Do you have access to Windows? If so does it work under Windows? If it doesn't then it is definitely a hardware problem. If you don't have access to WIndows on your laptop, I would say it is probably a hardware issue. Test it if you can and try calling Acer.

Can you help with this problem?
