cant load nvidia 7950 graphics

i have ubuntu 11.10 the nvidia graphics wont load..i have a 1024mb geforce 7950gx2 graphics card.when i try to load it .ubuntu becomes corrupted and i have reinstall.many thanks for any help..

Try the boot option:

nouveau.blacklist=1

May help, you can then install the proprietary driver and be ok.

When do you get command not found, what command are you running? I didn't advise to run a command....
