"what to do?" is clearly a question and there are no symptoms other than "does not work".

Same issue as you. I don't use the "Display" in "Parameters settings" which doesn't work properly.
I directly open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run nvidia-settings. I should have raise a bug!

I reopened the bug.

How does the other display connect? Is the system a laptop or desktop? Does it have a make / model?

For me, it's a desktop (Packard Bell, I forgot the exact model) with a "GeForce 9600 GS" card.
