How do I make Kubuntu default to 1280x1024 instead of 1280x960?

Asked by Name Withheld

It gets annoying when every time I log in it always saves all the windows I have open from last time and stuff but not the screen resolution!

I am just kind of having a pet peeve here and I want it to stop being retarded.

when should I type this in? Do you need to know the software that changes the screen rez and stuff cause it is called: KRandRTray
I typed this command in after I already changed the screen resolution to the size I like (1280,1024) this is what I got:

kubuntu@ubuntu:~$ -C display; lsb_release -a; xrandr

oh and I don't think that is really the max size that I can go because I don't have that good of graphics card, and I don't know a screen that can go that high of a resolution.... (4096 x 4096)

If you slow down a little bit dude, you'll be fine.

If you run:

sudo nvidia-xconfig; gksudo nvidia-settings

The setup the display as you want and then click 'Save to X cnfig file', the setting willstick. Reboot to test

So I made sure I typed the command in right now... I got a "sudo does not exist or something, then it asked if I wanted to download gksudu I said yes and then after it finished I typed in the command again, it said "sudo: nvidia-xconfig: command not found" and it appeared it was launching gksudo, but then it wasn't there after it seemed to finish loading

Try:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-96

Then reboot to test. If it's bad then boot to root recovery console and remove the package

Can you help with this problem?
