boot up freeze on "Checking battery state..."

When my Asus Ul80j laptop boots up, it freezes on "Checking battery state...". This seemed to happen after I downloaded the nvidia drivers so there might be some correlation there. I am totally new to Ubuntu so could someone help me out please?

I can confirm from message that you have probably a graphic card issue (following message should be about launching graphic server). At boot try second line and check if you can get graphic. If yes, go to proprietary driver and set previous driver.
