Ubuntu 11.04 dev Natty: when I install nvidia pkgs,it then wants to delete the xorg pkgs & same when I try to reinstall xorg pkgs

Asked by Hutchinson

I am using Development Release: Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 2 & have tried numorous times to install Nvidia Drivers either through Jockey or synaptic or command line & it wont allow both xserver-xorg to be installed at same time as Nvidia.
I cannot get Nvidia to work this way, & I have not noticed this happen before in pasty releases that i can remember.
Do you have an idea that I could use to cause them both to install.
It obviously stops "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" from happening.
Thanks AnyOne

Let me know if you would need any PC specs etc... to help other than I'm using Nvidia 6600

This a marked as 'critical' bug 711409

As far as I know Maverick contains xserver 1.9, and Natty will include xserver 1.10, and the currently available drivers from Nvidia do not correctly work with xserver 1.10.

As long as there are no drivers published by Nvidia that work with 1.10, you can only:
1. stay on Maverick or
2. use the open source drivers like nv, nouveau or vesa.

Can you help with this problem?
