Lines come up instead of login screen on 10.10

Asked by Abhisaar Sharma

I installed 1o.1o on d drive, running with windows xp on the c on my HCL laptop with Nvidia Ge Force Go 61oo graphic card. But whenever i start using ubuntu 1o.1o, a few seconds after loading, instead of the login screen; pink lines appear everywhere and the cursor dissapears and the laptop hangs. I think there might be a resolution problem, but its just a guess. i operate on 128oX8oo res. Please help. Any assistance will be appreciated.

boot to root recovery mode (hold shift at boot, select recovery mode then select root). Then run:

apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

Then reboot, should be ok. You can now install the restricted driver.

Can you help with this problem?
