nvidia driver won't work

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my hp pavilion zv5000 about an hour ago. The only driver I am getting stuck on is my graphics card. I have an nvidia Geforce4 440 graphics card. please help me. i just want to be able to use the extra visual effects (i can't even use the normal ones.)

I fear Gefoce4 is not supported under Maverick. Somebody discovered a workaround though. See here.
