Can't get the display screen to fit the entire monitor

Asked by Carlos

Hello there... I am going through hell and back in Ubuntu for simple things in other OS's it was piss easy, its not to be an ass I really want Ubuntu and I just hope the learning curve isn't too long.

I have the 9800 GTX + and when I had win7 with the install of the software included it was piss easy to fit the screen it even had an option to stretch width and height and here for some reason the maximum is 1360x768. The screen stretches but I still have an annoying 1.5 cm approx black lines on either side of the screen.

So how can I change it like this ? Can I simply install the Nvidia software included with the card ? I'm just scared because I never know when a program is Ubuntu compatible or not. Seriously somebody should slap these companies silly and make it compatible for any platform.

Sorry for the spam but sheesh!

you can adjust the screen by clicking Hardware Devices.

It's under System then, either Preferences of Administration.

Yes I have been looking for things like that, but in the monitor settings there is nothing to fix that, the padding, for some reason, each time I insert a value it doesn't accept it.

go to system =admin. = hardware driver . set the display to what works for you .

Can you help with this problem?
