how do i kill xserver completely, i can use nvidia driver installer?

is there away to kill xserver completely?
and want to install nvidia drive from nvidia

Boot to root recovery mode and you can do it there. Ubuntu has packages for nvidia drivers which will upgrade as you upgrade kernels. Using this method will mean you must rerun the installer each time you get a new kernel
