problem running ubuntu 10.10 64bit on intel

Asked by Derek Millenbaugh

I downloaded the ubuntu 10.10 64bit iso and burned it to dvd and installed it in my windows environment and when i boot it gives me the choice to boot windows7 or ubuntu if i choose ubuntu it will show the load screen but then after about 5 seconds it will just show me a bunch of jumbled graphics like my windows7 home screen but all mixed up like a puzzle i noticed the iso i downloaded from the site had amd in the name. i did a little research on this before installing and most sources say it is made for amd64 but will run with Intel clearly this does not seem to be the case i looked for an Intel download but there was none on the ubuntu.com site if someone has a link for the Intel version or help at all on the subject it would be appreciated. My system is a 64 bit system with an Intel corei5 m430

Please help

It is named amd64 before AMD got to the 64-bit technology before Intel so Ubuntu calls it amd64 and it is intended for all x64 machines including both Intel and AMD. You will never find an Intel or AMD specific version.

Can you help with this problem?
