Is there anyone that is curently having any sucess with the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-256.53 drivers

Asked by Charles

I'm getting sick of it as I'm sure many others are, but my problem is that the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-256.53.run driver works but i'm having problems with Screen resolution it wont save any settings even after gdm restart and i can't for the life of me get the Overscan Compensation settings to even appear in the GPU settings of the Monitor, the odd part of it all is that in the X Server Display Config i'm showing 1920x1080 (which is correct) but in X Screen, I'm showing the Dimensions at 2944x1080 so both top/bottom are completely off screen.

Anyone know of a solution?

Try:

sudo nvidia-xconfig

You can then run:

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xor.conf

and change the resolution in the screen section.
