Ubuntu 10.04 can't output to projector

Asked by Dan Miller

I run both Windows 7 Ultimate and Ubuntu 10.04 on my Asus N80Vb. While using Windows I can hit Fn-F8 to output my screen to a projector. However, this does not work in Ubuntu. I've also tried using the Monitors preferences dialog, but I can't get output. I've searched around the internet and most of the suggestions involving changing something in X configuration, but nothing thus far has worked. Any help?

ok then plug in the projector and run:

nvidia-settings

You can then click "detect settings" and the projector should be seen as an extra monitor which you can then configure.

You may just have to press the F8 thing. My lappy has a similar key combo and woirks fine, just press it twice in quick succession, maybe 3 times etc

Can you help with this problem?
