Display problems with nvidia ge Force 7150

Installed Ubuntu 10.4 on my HP Pavillion DV6609 using the windows installer and as soon as it got past the splash screen, the video became 3 horizontally overlapping displays, starting on the right half of the screen and wrapping to the other side. Graphics driver is NVIDIA ge Force 7150/nForce630. I'm totally new to Linux and have no clue as to where to start. Looked for restricted drivers and there were none.

Where did you trying to find restricted drivers? Can you type in terminal lspci -v | grep VGA and paste the output here?

In your terminal try

sudo nvidia-xconfig

gksudo nvidia-settings
