updating nouveau driver

Asked by marcus aurelius

what is the process to update the nouveau video drivers?

nvidia drivers cause my system to freeze intermittently. the nouveau driver that came with 10.04 works better, but at smaller font sizes, portions are various characters don't show up.

i found steps on updating for ubuntu 9.10 but the commands and directories are outdated and don't work.

actually, i am using 10.04.

i'm trying to get an update for the nouveau nvidia driver. i found how to do this on another site,

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6592005

but the instructions only works on 9.10. it referenced the subdirectory "linux-core" which i don't see anywhere in 10.04. unless the instruction are wrong.
