OpenGL 2.0 support on GM965 (Intel X3100)

Asked by Roberto Cássio Jr.

Hi,

I've read that Mesa 7.1 is bringing OpenGL 2.0 support. I'm testing Intrepid Ibex with all current updates (Until 09/09/2008) and glxinfo still reports OpenGL 1.4.

On Fedora 9, though, the same tool reports OpenGL 2.0 (in the same video card).

So I have two questions regarding this:

1) Why do I have Mesa 7.1 on Fedora reporting OpenGL 2.0 and 1.4 on Ubuntu?
2) If OpenGL 2.0 isn't supported for Intel X3100, do you have some prevision of when could this happen? Still on Intrepid? Intrepid +1?

Thanks in advance.

I am also interested why it isn't >1.4. it's a bit annoying that i have almost had my x3100 thinkpad for a year, and still no opengl 2.0 support.

In one of my searchs, I've found this:

http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=245824

I think this solves my problem. OpenGL 2.0+ support depends of a newer DRM (Direct Rendering module) which is not in the current Ubuntu's kernel (not even in Intrepid). I've tried to compile it by hand on intrepid, but I was not successful.

Maybe intrepid +1 comes with it...
