Monitor at DisplayPort not detected

Asked by vlc

Hi *,

recently a bought a Dell U2713HM monitor. My mainboard, an ASUS P5QL-CM with Intel GMA X4500 (chip set G43 Intel ICH10) can control the monitor at highest resolution only via DisplayPort.

Unfortunately, X does not detect the monitor when connected to the DisplayPort (see log file under http://pastebin.com/LCcvYVtM). Via DVI and VGA I can drive the monitor, but not at highest resolution.

Is there a way to convince X to run the monitor via DisplayPort?

Thanks a lot in advance!

2048x1152 is what you are using. Is this not what you use?

Yes, I'm currently using 2048x1152, the maximum that the RGB port can generate for this monitor. But the monitor's resolution is 2560x1440. The GMA X4500's maximum resolution is 1900x1200 via DVI-D, 2048x1536 via RBG and 2560x1600 via DisplayPort.

As you can see, only DisplayPort can generate the required resolution.

I should maybe also note that e.g. the BIOS is displayed when the monitor is connected via DisplayPort, i.e. it's no hardware problem.
