The Intel drivers are in a default install.

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C display; lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks

Have you tried Unity2D session?

Asif ansari (asif-ansari4u) said : #4

Sorry whats that? I told you i am new...i was using XP from last 15yrs...

But you have been using the web for nealy as long too....so could use that to find out what it is. Cuuldn't you.....?

Log off and on the logini screen, click the Ubuntu logo near your username and change the session, then log in.

Asif ansari (asif-ansari4u) said : #6

Oops! that was simple...

is everything alright in my system from the output given... because in system property in graphics it shows unknown

now what

Asif ansari (asif-ansari4u) said : #7

In details ...Under Graphics
it says
Driver : unknown
Experience : standard

You could use and xorg.conf to get a better performance but udev has identified the device and loaded the right driver. Those 82845G/GL intel chips are far from great and have issues with lockups if there are timing issues.

Asif ansari (asif-ansari4u) said : #9

driver : unknown
so it doesnt matter?

drivers are installed already ( as output says) ,right?

and in 2d session speed is bit increased...
Thanks...

The 2D desktop doesn't need 3D acceleration from the video hardware and is great for system's that'd don't have the capacity for the full 3D session.
