External VGA not working after update to 12.04

Asked by ntuple

I've got a Toshiba Portege R705 and a GatewayFPD2185W that got along great until 12.04.

Now when I connect the monitor to the laptop, my resolution is automatically degraded down to 1024x 860 from the usual 1366x768 on both monitors.

Assuming I need to download new drivers has anyone done this already ?

thanks,
R

For anyone having this same issue I don't have it anymore.

The problem seems be the "unify output" checkbox. I don't remember seeing it previous versions but now it's defaulting to on.

Unchecking that box allows me to have each video device have it's recommended setting.
