Screen goes blank in my EMACHINES e725 when I try or install ubuntu 11.04 or ubuntu 11.10 , emachines e725 works very fine with ubuntu 10.04

I have been using ubuntu 11.10 in my desktop having intel celeron processor with 256mb ram.i have installed ubuntu 11.10 in lenovo netbook with intel atom processor works very fine with wireless webcam etc
I also installed ubuntu 10.04,and tried xbuntu 11.04 in ACER EMACHINES E725 works fine
When I tried ubuntu 11.04,ubuntu 11.10 the screen goes blank after installation from alternate cd,doesnot work with usb stick the screen goes blank .this problem is with EMACHINES E725.I didnot understand the fact when the same machine works fine with ubuntu 10.04,xbuntu 11.04 why the screen goes blank with ubuntu 11.04,ubuntu 11.10

I recommend you use Lubuntu or Xubuntu if you only have 256Mb RAM. It will make for a more responsive OS. Amazon shows the system has an Intel 4500M so if you add the boot option:

nomodeset

It may get you a desktop.

The screen goes black because the display timings have been moved and some GPUs, especially Intel things don't like it
