compaq presario V6000 - video quality on boot

Asked by Russell Booth

I don't know if anybody has experienced this with this computer when it has the motherboard with the Nvidia graphics chip and the AMD turion CPU (not that I think that has anything to do with this), between the splash screen and login there is an inconsistency, the screen will flash momentarily and have lines through it (vertically).

Why I mention this is because I have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a Compaq Presario C700 with an intel CPU and graphics chip , well, it doesn't do it on that computer, I was told it has something to do with the Nvidia video chip not working perfectly with Ubuntu.

I was wondering if there was any update available or anything like that to fix the problem on the V6000 computer ?

I don't see why it's a concern, it's a boot splash. The desktop sounds fine and that's what really matters

I have used this guide in the past and it makes the boot use an open driver for the bootup:

Can you help with this problem?
