Asus Netbook Dual Monitor setup, Modeline and the black vertical bar on the 32" LCD TV

Asked by echo

Hello NERDS!!! I almost quit Ubuntu 11.04 but I stuck with it and now I love it. I have this problem an Asus eeePC 1018p 10" Netbook connected via VGA to a Soniq QSL322T 32" LCD TV with 1366x768 res @60Hz [the info button on the TV says 1280x768 however.[ Problem is that everything is working excellent thanks to this helpy link http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-change-display-resolution-settings-using-xrandr.html which I followed exactly BUT problem, there is a 2 Inch wide black vertical bar on the right hand side of the TV which is annoying me greatly. Here is some stuff that may help.

Have you tried the Oneiric liveCD to see if that works ok?

actionparsnip.. You are a genius and I am a fool. Every single one of those ideas has potential! I was 100% sure there was no OSD but I thought better check again and I found it! Indicated by nothing except an accidental down thumbstroke I found the super secret OSD menu. Thank you so much. I feel a bit foolish now looking for as long as I did for the most complex solution!

Thanks again
