Screen on my laptop does not come on when booting from 11.04 live disc.

Asked by Stacey Roberts

I am booting my laptop with the 11.04 live disc and the screen does not power on. I can just faintly see the window to choose to "Try" or "Install". I can manage to choose to try and I hear the bootup music, but a blank screen. What can I do to fix this? I am a novice so make it easy to understand. BTW. I did not have this issue with 10.10.

Thank you

What model laptop!? Instead of saying "my laptop" why not include it there? It's a very important piece of information and you left it out.If you can give it we can advise. There are thousands of possible models you could possibly be using...

I wouldn't say it was low end :) I run ubuntu on systems with a quarter of the power with no issues. Can you give the output of:

sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name

Thanks
