Desktop effects could not be enabled intel graphics

Asked by Patrick Connelly

Hi. I'm fairly new to Linux and Ubuntu so bare with me me. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on a Toshiba Sattelite L445-S5009. I believe my graphics card is, based on googling the model, a Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. I'm trying to run Compiz Fusion which it did for a while but now I can't even set the visual effects to normal. It says "Searching for drivers" and then finally "Desktop effects could not be enabled" Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
