no display after install on pendrive

Asked by srinivas gullapalli

Hi all of you. I am new to the community...........
Yesterday I faced with the problem below :

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a Flash Drive(pendrive) with capacity 4GB. Ubuntu installed completely without any problem.
But after installation when I tried to boot from the pendrive .................. There is simply a blank screen and nothing happens even though I waited for 20 minutes. But there is no " NO SIGNAL " warning on the screen. That means there is something going on but not displayed.

NOTE: When I run Ubuntu from dvd or when installed on a hard disk it worked correctly. but the probleum occured only when I installed Ubuntu on the pendrive. I tried the boot option - modeset, but no use.

Configuration : Intel dual core, Gigabyte mother board (G31/32), Display: onboard Intel G31, Kingston 4GB, ViewSonic 19" (VA1918wm) 1400*900.

Please Help. Thanks in advance.

If you hold shift while the system boots and select safe mode, does it work ok?

Hi, pressing Shift key took me to the grub menu. Even though I selected any of the options the problem kept on repeating.
I reinstalled with ext4 file system and this time with out the swap partion and only the root partion.
                  Thanks

Have you tested your RAM from Grub menu?
