drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed

Asked by jp

I have a compaq EVO, seemed to work ok with ubuntu 8.04, however after upgrading to 10.04, the video keeps crashing (I think it may be X). I can still ssh but have to reboot to get it back. Here are some errors I see :

kernel: [ 5022.844018] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
kernel: [ 5022.844029] render error detected, EIR: 0x00000000
 kernel: [ 5022.844878] [drm:i915_do_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -5 (awaiting 63865 at 63778)
 kernel: [ 5024.900015] [drm:i915_gem_idle] *ERROR* hardware wedged
kernel: [ 5026.020743] [drm:i915_gem_entervt_ioctl] *ERROR* Reenabling wedged hardware, good luck

I'm also having issues with the speakers, used to work on ubuntu 8.04 but now only works if I use headset

I looked at the link, none of those seem to apply or provide a clear resolution in my case for the video issue. does this mean I can't use ubuntu 10.04 ? That would be a shame. It seems to work ok on windoze xp
