DVD will not play

Asked by Rich.b

I have a DELL Dimension 2400 series computer with a problem.
Running Ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx 512Mb Ram.

I have replaced HD from 40Gb to 80Gb and reinstall ALL programs on both HD's
The problem is the same on both HD before and after the new HD.

I have installed a Pioneer DVD-RW (DVR-108) a few days ago and tested it with a DVD test disk (German sound and words)
picture and sound were OK.

When I tried to play the "Hurt Locker" it produced Errors.

Any help please?

sudo apt-get install libdvdread4; sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

May help. You should also add the medibuntu ppa:

sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update

I have been able to burn a DVD from a File on a pen drive and to play it back.

Copy the whole command as ONE and paste to terminal. Don't break up the command. It will fly

Thanks very much, sorry I did it wrong.

Q 1 /What can I do with this new program?

Q 2/ Will the second part do auto updates?

It will all automatically update. You now have a decent repo to install stuff from as well as the ability to play commercial video DVDs.
