Display cut off at bottom.

Asked by Al Corkins

I have an Acer Aspire One netbook, with a Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller. Unfortunately, about 10% of the screen is cut off at the bottom. This is especially noticeable with dialog boxes as often they are not resizeable, and the bottom is usually cut off.

I am currently using a 1024x600 screen resolution. None of the other resolutions seem to help, and in some instances, are worse.

Is the problem that a bit of the image at the bottom of the screen is missing? Or - what is the case on my computer - that the dialogue is just higher than your screen?

In the latter case you can move the lower half of the dialog box into the screen by pressing and holding the ALT-key - and then while holding the ALT key taking any point of the active window and drag-and-dropping it with the mouse whereever you like.

Or by right-pressing on the entry in the window list, choosing "Move" --- and moving the window with the keyboard.

Some dialog boxes extend below the screen. I did try holding the ALT key down while dragging the mouse, and that works, but the Alt+F7 (move) for some reason doesn't. With the move control, I can move left, right, or down, but not up.

I have not checked to see if I have the latest BIOS so I'll look for that.

But for now, ALT/Mouse seems to work.

Thanks;

Al
