Intel 82845g Ubuntu Help

Asked by blueysak

I just recently installed ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) on my Dell Dimension 2350 (It's old but it runs xp like its brand new) and I have the intel graphics card 82845g on it. How would I get the graphics card working. I now there has been a lot of trouble with this card but I have not found any fixes that I understand or that are for my version of ubuntu or my exact graphics card. Can anyone please help me?

Thank You

it's a little bit tricky,
lets try the Ubuntu repository.
GoTo: System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager ( it will ask you for user password )
And Then you will get a window, look for "Quick search" Type inside it "xserver-xorg-video-intel"
and check if it already installed or not .. if not double click it to check it for installation, and then hit apply to install it.

I have a intel 945GM and it's working fine with this driver, i even running compiz on it ;)

your driver is in deep problems check out this info : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidLynx/ReleaseNotes#Intel%208xx%20X%20freezes/crashes

the only workaround right now is to use vesa driver (install it from synaptic package manager)

also try this workout maybe it will help you
