Intel GMA4500MHD h.264 acceleration

I am currently using Ubuntu 10.04 and it is an absolutely marvelous release! The only problem I am having is that my h.264 videos are very laggy. I am using Intel GMA4500MHD. Does linux support hardware acceleration for this graphics card? If yes, how do I enable it?

Can you give the output of:

gedit /var/log/Xorg.0.log

You may need to form an xorg.conf file to specify more exact graphic options if udev is not detecting them automagically

AFAIK Intels VA support is not in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS yet. But there is a page describing how to get and compile the necessary software:
